The Venue
What is the capacity?
We can host up to 120 guests for your ceremony and sit-down meal, and up to 150 in the evening once the room has been reconfigured. Evening guests (where numbers exceed 120) should arrive once the room changeover is complete and the barn has reopened for the evening.
Is the venue exclusively ours for the day?
Yes, Roodlea Barn is exclusively yours from the moment your guests arrive until the end of the evening. No other events are hosted on the same day.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, there is plenty of parking available on site for you and your guests.
Can we have an outdoor ceremony?
Yes, outdoor ceremonies are available on our decking with room for all your daytime guests. Given the Scottish weather, you can make that decision right up until the day before. No pressure.
Are there accommodation options on site?
Yes. Roodlea House sleeps up to 10 guests and is just a short walk from the barn, ideal for the night before and the night of your wedding. We also have the Honeymoon Retreat, a stunning one bedroom lodge with private decking, outdoor bath, wood burning stove and countryside views, perfect for your first night as a married couple. Do we have to remove our decorations the next day?

Catering
Do you provide catering?
We do not provide catering ourselves, which means you have freedom to choose a caterer that suits your style and budget from our approved list. We have a fully equipped onsite kitchen for your caterer's use, and a small per-person kitchen fee applies. Your catering team will also help with the room changeover between ceremony and meal, as our own team will be running the bar at that point. Head to our recommended suppliers page for our current approved list.
Do you provide cutlery and crockery?
No, your caterer will need to bring all cutlery, crockery and any linens you require. We provide glassware for the tables during the meal as part of our bar service.
The bar
How does the bar work?
We run and staff the bar ourselves throughout your day. We have a fully stocked bar with a wide range of spirits, beers, wines, prosecco and soft drinks. Drinks packages are available and can be tailored to suit you, with your choice confirmed around six weeks before your wedding.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
No, all alcohol on the day must be purchased through us. We do not offer corkage. This applies to guests too and anyone found to have brought their own alcohol onto the premises will be asked to leave.
On the day
Do you provide a master of ceremonies?
Yes, we provide a master of ceremonies as part of your day. We also manage your ceremony music, so you can let us know your song choices for the bridal entrance, signing of the register and the exit and we will take care of it on the day.
What time does music need to finish?
All music must finish by midnight. When the band or DJ starts up in the evening, the bifold and fire doors will be closed to keep the volume comfortable for the surrounding area.
Are fireworks allowed?
Unfortunately not. We have a lot of farm animals and wildlife surrounding us so fireworks are not permitted at the venue.
Is confetti allowed?
Yes, we love a confetti moment! It must be biodegradable confetti and can only be used outdoors. If your photographer is supplying confetti please check with them that it meets this requirement.
What is your candle policy?
We do not allow naked flames in the barn. Any real candles must be in a container that completely surrounds and sits at least 2cm above the flame, such as hurricane vases or enclosed tea light holders. This applies to all decor and suppliers.
